Internal protests within New Democracy stem from the poor functioning of the so-called executive state due to the absence of Grigoris Dimitriadis, argues former minister and MP Sofia Voultepsi to BankingNews.gr. Speaking on the show MAGGA on BNtv with journalist Angie Stathatou, Ms. Voultepsi stresses that "without Dimitriadis, there is no person to connect the Maximos Mansion with the ministers and the MPs." She refers to the reactivation of Alexis Tsipras, stating that "he has told so many lies and unfortunately, people do not change," and describes Zoe Konstantopoulou as a "constituent element of the extremes."
15,000 legal wiretaps today – Dimitriadis had no knowledge of surveillance
As for the polls? "They are not an election result. In the elections, the dilemma will be stability or ungovernability," maintains Sofia Voultepsi. However, she admits that high prices torture most citizens and are addressed through benefits, "even though benefit policy was not a policy of New Democracy." The MP of the governing faction decries "the policy and rhetoric of hate" from the opposition, as she says it "leads to the far-right," and launches barbs at PASOK for "creating the institutionalized difference." Regarding the main opposition's stance on wiretapping and Predator, she states: "In PASOK, prosecutors are historically to blame; it is clear that Dimitriadis had no knowledge of the wiretaps." She adds that "legal wiretaps existed under SYRIZA as well, which increased them from 5,000 to 10,000 – 15,000," while admitting that today there are "about 15,000 legal wiretaps."
Even under Samaras we had NAVTEX and Turkish ship cruises in the Aegean – Samaras excessive in foreign policy positions
The reactions and positions of former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras are excessive, Ms. Voultepsi argues, as "Samaras also held meetings with Turkey and back then Navtex were issued and during his days Turkish ships went on cruises."
OPEKEPE: Illegality, not a scandal – Enough with the Mitarachi email! We all send an email for evaluation
If some so-called farmers took the money of real farmers, "you call it illegality," Sofia Voultepsi mentions in her interview, arguing that the involvement of political figures has not been proven: "The case files show that the MPs did not break the law," she says, making special reference to the Mitarachi email: "Mercy! We all send emails for those who know to evaluate them."
Kovesi should limit herself to her duties and stay out of our business
Romanian DNA is to blame for "Kovesi's mistake of not limiting herself to her duties," the New Democracy MP claims: "The European Prosecution is overstepping its duty; it shouldn't tell us what the MPs will do. Romania has no experience with the separation of powers," stresses Sofia Voultepsi, who urges the head of the EPPO to "leave the communication aside and stay out of our business."
